How to Apply

Public Housing:

Applications are accepted at the Central Office Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Applications are accepted at the Sandalwood Terrace and Yemassee Heights by appointment. See contact information below. Applications will be mailed to the disabled and the elderly if required.

Section 8 Housing:

Central Office

Applications are accepted at the Central Office on a specific schedule. The Section 8 waiting list is currently closed.

The following information will be required to complete an application.
1. Social Security cards for all family members.
2. If married, separated, or divorced paperwork to verify.
3. If receiving TANF, SSI, or Social Security- print out from agency.
4. If in military, bring last LES.
5. If working, bring pay stubs- at least 6 pay periods.
6. If receiving child support, bring print out.
7. Lived outside South Carolina in the past 12 months, bring information regarding criminal history.

The Beaufort Housing Authority has established the following preferences in its housing programs.

1. Displaced by natural disaster or government actions.
2. Working families or those whose head or spouse is in an institution of higher learning.*
3. Families who live/ work in Beaufort County.
4. All other applicants by oldest date and time of application.

*Working families include elderly head of household or spouse.
